  • Maintaining a large number of High volume and high traffic newspaper and magazine sites
  • Adding new features, upgrading modules and implementing new designs.
  • Writing PHP and Perl scripts that parse RSS feeds and output HTML files.
  • Created a custom PHP module that sends custom emails to subscribers, giving them the most recent news stories for the sections that they signed up for.

Internship

Programming Intern – Morris Digital works (Strategy and Innovation department of the mdXtreme Lab)

  • Created a new web2.0 community oriented site for the Savannah newspaper.
  • Worked with mapping using the Yahoo API, taking XML that Yahoo sent and parsed the XML with PHP to be used on the site.
  • Created custom PHP Drupal Modules and Functions for the Savannah site.
  • Worked on a Sports site that used a PHP based CMS (Drupal 4.7). Its main purpose was to Aggregate RSS feeds into one MySQL database, then display the stories on a site, allowing users to vote on the stories in a DIGG style.
  • Reviewed and analyzed competitors’ sites to research the newest features that they provided.

Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church

  • Building an efficient website to their tastes, utilizing HTML and Adobe Photoshop for graphic design.
  • Teaching the users how to maintain and update the website on a scheduled basis.
